Position Title: Project Coordinator - Construction Description: The Project Coordinator - Construction acts on behalf of the respective company and is responsible for coordinating construction projects, specifically focusing on Pole Top Transformer Replacement Programs. The candidate must have a minimum of 20 years' experience as a Power Line Technician (PLT), including supervisory experience. General Functions: The Project Coordinator oversees all aspects of construction projects, including coordination of contractors, monitoring progress, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to work methods. They report directly to the Project Manager and may conduct site coordination meetings. Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Supervise contractors performing pole top transformer replacements. Conduct regular site coordination meetings. Monitor progress and ensure adherence to construction schedules. Ensure contractor quality, safety, and compliance with work methods. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project success. Report progress and any issues to the Project Manager. Accommodate contractor work hours, including potential overtime and weekend work. Mandatory Requirements: Hold a certificate of qualification as a journeyman lineman (Power Line Technician) or equivalent. Minimum 20 years of experience as a Power Line Technician, with supervisory experience. Possess a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to candidates with: Quality Control/Assurance experience. Safety expertise and experience. Bilingual proficiency in French and English. Experience and Role Accountabilities A minimum seven (7) years of construction experience or equivalent. • Inspect construction work which may be on substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric equipment by using excellent skills in inspection procedures and understanding of construction methods to meet deadlines and comply with building and safety codes. • Ensure work site safety by prioritizing the safe execution of work and performing Safe Work Observations using excellent knowledge in safety standards and regulations to improve BC Hydro’s safety performance. • Conduct or coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities by using good working knowledge of engineering drawings to enable timely progression of projects. Front End Planning (FEP): Project team member responsible for coordinating, facilitating and driving the Front End Planning processes. Initiate and facilitate Risk Profiling, Project Breakdown Structure development. Review and provide input into project scoping and Basis of Estimates. Initiate and co-ordinate scoping, and risk workshops. Obtain labour estimates from resource providers. With support of project team members develop integrated, logically tied, resource loaded project schedules (Primavera P6) which incorporate identified scope, risks, estimates/budgets and constraints to the individual task level for field execution. With support of project team members, establish project plans, schedules and milestones. Preparation of Project Execution Plan Obtain concurrence on project plan from applicable stakeholders (eg. Engineering, Design, CMO etc). Support and author Business Case Summary development. Ensure detail, accuracy and quality is adequate to allow monitoring and control of project to ensure successful completion of cost, schedule and scope commitments. 2. Project Monitoring & Control: Develop and maintain updated and accurate conceptual phase schedule. Load approved project plan/schedule into applicable project control systems (eg AS7, P6, etc). Maintain alignment between source systems and project control systems throughout project life cycle. Perform weekly schedule updates. Perform weekly schedule analysis.
